(Sofia).- “A lot has been said about the impact of AI and the role it will play in the retail space (chatbots, personalized shopping). But it could have just as much an impact on the online gambling industry, and as iGaming developers, we’ve seen some of those changes firsthand,” according to a report by CT Interactive.

Modern online slots are a great example of how AI is being used to improve the overall player experience. At their heart, these games are governed by complex mathematical models. Volatility levels dictate the size and frequency of payouts; RTPs highlight how likely the game is to payout. Both rely on vast amounts of data processing to simulate millions of spins. But machine learning can take things even further.
Imagine creating a game that tracks every single spin during every gaming session in real time. We could use AI to record the performance of each game, how much a player wagers, how fast the reels are spun, and how many dynamic variables are changed (paylines, audio, game speed). This data can then be used to create finely tuned casino games that the gambling community wants to play.
AI also helps to build a complete profile of the player, which can influence everything from the games they are recommended to the promotions they are offered. This player profile customization is very much in place now, but efficiency can always be improved. Add to that the support it can bring to operators in tackling problem gambling and money laundering, and it becomes clear that AI is and will be an invaluable tool for the future.
It sounds like science fiction, but, as we said, such systems are already in place across the casino and gambling industry, and it’s an idea we have fully embraced at CT Interactive. But that’s just the tip of the artificial iceberg, as AI has also shown itself to be quite the partner in creating visuals and animation.
Leading the way in digital animation are systems such as DALL-E and MidJourney. Both have caught the eye of the creative world and while some graphic designers have a right to be concerned about their careers further down the line, others are looking at these systems as another tool to be utilized. If you can’t beat it, join it!
As with the mathematical and logical ability of ChatGPT, the likes of DALL-E and MidJourney are advancing in their ability to create stunning imagery and animation from simple text prompts. Yes, a little learning is required, but the results are well worth the effort.
Put this power in the hands of a casino game developer, and that is where the magic happens. Designers can adapt original ideas and allow AI to send back interpretations, or they could simply have fun with random prompts to spark inspiration for the next big niche slot theme.
As we are all finding out with AI, the potential is mind-blowing. This will only get more impressive as the months roll on. Getting AI onboard as part of the team, and not in place of the team, is something that game developers should really be considering.
The reason AI is such a hot topic in 2023 is not because the pandemic gave everyone more time to ponder, work, and innovate. It’s not because a genius inventor had a eureka moment. It’s because processing speeds and storage methods have advanced so much that it’s now possible to process vast quantities of data in a short space of time.
Effectively, AI has been asleep, and it just woke up. Whatever happens, the next few years will be an exciting time for everyone in the iGaming industry, and as a forward-thinking, tech-focused developer, we’re glad to be at the forefront of it.
